It assesses the network cable, determining instances of short-circuit, open circuit, and crossing conditions, and even checks line levels and polarity orientation. In terms of telephone line operations, it can verify its status (idle, ringing, and off-hook) and differentiate between TIP and RING lines. Plus, it ensures wire continuity.
