How to solder:
The art of soldering involves careful preparation and technique:
- Thoroughly clean the parts set to be joined.
- Clean the soldering iron tip and coat all faces of the tip with solder (“tin” the tip).
- Apply heat to the parts, not directly to the solder.
- Apply flux-core solder to heated parts, not the soldering tip, and heat it until the solder melts and flows freely.
Safety Precautions:
Safety should always be a priority. So, keep in mind: - During use, the soldering iron can be placed on the stand or laid flat on the work surface for optimal ventilation and heat dissipation. Do not hang the soldering tips or point them downwards while heating to avoid damaging the handle.
- Do not keep the soldering iron temperature at 450 Celsius for too long. Over-excessive temperature speeds up iron oxidation, making soldering more challenging.
- Always clean the soldering iron with a sponge after use, and re-tin it for easy tinning on the soldering tips.
