The MMU 2.0 functions similar to the standard MK3—simply slice the model, export the G-Code, transfer it to an SD card and begin printing. Uniquely, our MMU 2.0 supports up to 5 materials loaded simultaneously.
The enhanced MMU 2.0 boasts of a direct-drive feed and a motorized selector head that houses an integrated filament sensor, enabling seamless loading and unloading of filaments. We’ve addressed the jamming problem associated with the original multi-material add-on by incorporating a built-in blade in the selector that automatically cuts off the filament tip if it gets jammed during unloading. This makes the unit less susceptible to filament quality, effectively eradicating jamming issues.
Efficiency is improved with three buttons located on the top of the MMU 2.0 body—two control the movement of the selector head, while another button is designated for loading/unloading filaments. These buttons also come with advanced functions such as calibrating the length of the PTFE tube.
The MMU 2.0 not only supports Single Mode printing, which operates like a standard MK3 machine, but it also allows you to keep five of your preferred filaments loaded and select the most suitable one for your printing job. We are currently developing a firmware update to enable printing of older MK3 G-codes in MMU2 Single Mode.
Installing the MMU2 provides an opportunity to upgrade your extruder to an improved version that features an enhanced cooling system. It ensures easier printing of flexible materials and includes additional tweaks such as a reimagined cable management.
