It’s crucial not to operate this soldering iron at continuously high temperatures, as this can lead to the damage of the iron tip. The average melting point of ordinary solder is 183℃, while lead-free solder melts at approximately 227℃. The optimal functioning temperature for most soldering tasks is between 300℃-380℃.
Please be aware that temperatures exceeding 380℃ may result in rapid oxidation and loss of the iron head, thereby negatively affecting the lifespan of the heating core. At temperatures higher than 380℃, the temperature display will fluctuate with greater intensity the hotter it gets. This fluctuation, however, is perfectly normal and won’t interfere with the performance of the soldering iron.
Whenever viable, it’s recommended to use this T12 soldering iron at lower temperatures to prevent damage to the solder tip coating and extend the life of the PTC. Ideal temperature control is generally between 300℃~380℃.
