This product is best suited for the following components (not included in the package):
Motor driver with a 4.5A: MKS TB6600
3D printer motherboard: MKS-Gen
Features: The standard 42 motor-driver of a 3D printer in the current marketplace has the main IC directly connected to the motor driver IC. With this arrangement, the consumption by each interface is limited to a maximum of 2MA.
The MKS Gen motherboard that we’ve designed comes with a signal port which allows the output of the signal from the motor driver. We recommend using motor drivers such as the 4988 or the 8825.
Most 57/86 stepper drivers feature optical coupling isolation inputs that are designed to guard against interference. Each motor driver is equipped with 3 inputs:
- EN enable port – Regulates the motor’s switch
- PUL pulse port – Controls the motor’s motion and speed
- DIR direction interface – Commands the motor’s movement direction
The interface current of a standard optical coupling is around 10MA with one driver actuating one motor at a time. A single driver consumes a maximum of 30MA control current. Therefore, when the X, Y, Z, and E are linked to four 57/86 motor drivers, they will require 100MA work current. If this connection is built without amplifying the current, it can potentially burn out the 3D printer’s IC control board.
Note: The MKS CD expansion board adjusts the flow control signal. This helps to offset the pressure on the main IC generated by motor drives with optical isolation. Therefore, 3D printers with a Ramps1.4, MKS Gen, or similar motherboard and five large motor drives can function without undue stress.
Usage: You can insert the MKS CD directly into the driver slot, leading the control signal from the white port above. It’s important to be aware of the socket direction.
