MKS-Gen L
Overview: The MKS-Gen L is a controller board that provides more flexibility for users. It has been designed with the aim to tackle existing problems observed in open-source controller boards such as Ramps 1.4, by Makerbase developers.
Features:
- The board integrates 2560 and Ramps 1.4, eliminating the need for complex connectors.
- It supports a myriad of stepper drivers including A4988, DRV8825, TMC2100, and LV8729, allowing users to switch between stepper drivers and motors as per their preference.
- External driver signal housing is also available for connecting an external high-current driver to control the 57 and 86 stepper motors.
- A high-quality MOSFET is used for better cooling and improved stability.
- A specialized power chip supports 12V-24V power input to manage issues related to chip heating and power shortage.
- The presence of a stable and reliable filter circuit significantly minimizes interference and prevents printing crashes.
- A CH340 serial port chip ensures easy driving installation compared to 16U2.
- Compatible with Marlin firmware, the configuration is identical to Ramps 1.4, and can seamlessly replace it.
- Supports additional features like Ramps 1.4, 2004LCD,12864LCD, TFT28, and TFT32.
- With the possibility to input 24V, it effectively manages the heating of the bed’s MOSFET.
- The X, Y, and Z axes are color-coded for ease of wiring and also controls the stepper motors and endstops.
- The distinct color terminals guide in plugging the stepper drivers, reducing the risk of reversals and subsequent damage to the controller board.
TMC2208
The package also includes a TMC2208 single-axis stepper motor drive chip, built-in drive current 1.4A peak current 2A, voltage range from 4.75V to 36V, and a subdivision of 256. It features a flexible microPlyer interpolation unit that can provide up to 256 microstep/step resolution. The components have pulse/direction input for completely independent operation.
