Product Name: RTL-SDR Software Defined Radio Receiver
Product ID:
Features:
The RTL-SDR software defined radio receiver is endowed with an array of features including an RTL2832U ADC chip, an R820T2 tuner, a 1PPM TCXO, an SMA-F connector, and an aluminium case with passive cooling. This device can tune from 500 kHz to 1.7 GHz, providing up to 3.2 MHz of instantaneous bandwidth (with a stable max of 2.4 MHz, and 3.2 MHz if your application tolerates USB drops). The HF works in direct sampling mode applicable only for the V.3 models and above. This radio scanner is compatible with free software like SDR#, HDSDR, SDR-Radio, Linrad, GQRX, or SDR Touch on Android and runs on Windows, MacOS, Linux, Android, and even on embedded Linux computers like the Raspberry Pi.
The included Dipole antenna kit is highly beneficial for beginners to achieve excellent reception. Shorter antennas are beneficial for ADS-B, and the extended antennas are optimal for the lower frequencies. In the V-Dipole configuration, the antenna becomes an ideal option for 137 MHz satellites like the NOAA/Meteor M2 weather satellites and ISS. In a vertical configuration, it serves well for terrestrial signals. The kit also provides two mounts for convenient outdoor positioning for improved reception. Please note, the antenna is not designed for permanent outdoor use or for usage during unfavorable weather. When looking to use custom antennas, be advised that this dongle has an SMA-F connector, not RP-SMA.
Key Improvements:
Our model RTL-SDR radio receiver boasts upgrades over other models. It implements the improved R820T2 tuner and a 1PPM TCXO with a 2 PPM initial offset and 1 PPM temperature drift. Other enhancements include improved component tolerances, an SMA-F connector, a software-activatable bias-tee circuit for empowering external devices like LNA’s and active antennas, and HF reception capabilities. Unlike standard RTL-SDR dongles which only reach down to 24 MHz, this model’s hardware unlocks “direct sampling mode” to tune down to 500 kHz. This is facilitated by a built-in 25 MHz low pass filter to optimize this mode.
In addition, several features have been incorporated to signify improvements over other models. These include a USB choke to reduce internal & PC noise, additional bypass capacitors, power line ferrites for lesser PC noise, a PCB redesign for lower noise performance, improved ESD protection, an optimized front end circuit for wideband use, an upgraded LDO, and several break out pads for advanced user requirements.
Notes:
Please note, this device requires a USB 2.0 port (though it will work on most USB 3.0 ports, we cannot guarantee it to function on all. Hence, we recommend having a USB 2.0 port available). Installation on Windows is straightforward, please refer to the RTL-SDR Blog Quickstart guide.
Ensure you can receive a DVB-T signal in your locality.
