The TMC2208 is a single-axis stepping motor driver chip, renowned for its ultra-quiet operation. It features a power tube built-in drive with a current of 1.4A peak and current of 2A. It can function within a voltage range of 4.75V to 36V and provides 256 subdivisions.
The chip comes equipped with StealthChop2 technology, which enables faster motor acceleration and deceleration compared to its predecessor, stealthChop. It has the advantage of automatic stealthChop and spreadCycle switchover depending on the speed of operation.
For configuration ease, the TMC2208 offers a UART interface with a range of 9600 to 500k Baud. Its flexible microPlyer interpolation unit provides up to 256 subdivisions, enabling perfect sinusoidal control even when operating in systems with limited pulse frequencies.
The TMC2208 chip is suitable for 3D printing applications due to its StealthChop2 ultra-quiet technology. It’s fully replaceable with the original TMC2100 A4988 DRV8825 LV8729 chips. This is a plug-and-play device and doesn’t require complex wiring for installation.
