Get ready to use your Diamond Selector II tester with these simple steps:
1. Mark the battery.
2. Switch on the power.
3. Ensure the battery lamp illuminates.
4. Wait approximately 30 seconds until the ready lamp lights up.
When testing diamonds, here’s what to expect:
1. A series of beeping sounds (beep-beep-beep).
2. One to four red lamp boxes on the level meter will light up. The larger the stone, the more red lamp boxes will illuminate.
For diamond simulants (excluding synthetic ones), the following will occur:
1. There will be no beeping sound.
2. No red lamp boxes will light up. Depending on the type of simulant, green and/or yellow lamp boxes may light up.
The Diamond Selector II tester also features a Metal Alert:
1. A continuous buzzing sound will be heard. This is because the thermal conductivity of metal is very high and can give the same indication as a diamond with most thermal probes.
2. The Metal Alert buzzer will warn you when the probe tip touches metal. If you hear the Metal Alert buzzing sound, reposition the probe tip to touch only the tested stone.
