Preparation Steps:
- Always ensure that the bit tip is clean and generously coated with solder when switching on the iron for the first time. An initial tinning process helps in prolonging the bit’s life.
- Saturate the sponge provided before you commence.
- Confirm that the solder wire is ready for utilization and sufficiently extended from the casing, as depicted in step 1 of the illustration.
- Check that the bit is securely fitted and is in proper contact with the interior element.
The Bit Changing/Replacement Guide:
- Once the iron is on, the bit starts heating up and will be ready to use when the solder wire begins to melt upon touch.
- Begin the soldering process by ensuring the molten solder establishes a neat connection between the contacts you are targeting to solder.
- As soon as enough solder is applied, move the solder wire and the iron away, and clean off any leftover solder with the wet sponge.
- Always remember to turn the iron off at the power source and place it in the holder provided for it to cool down properly before safe storage.
Important Notes:
- Always wear safety goggles and take appropriate precautions to prevent injury or fire.
- The iron warms up quickly. Choose an appropriate operating temperature. Overusing the iron for longer durations and at elevated temperatures may diminish the lifespan of this product.
- Only power the iron on when necessary and shut it off when it’s not in use, to minimize the risk of injury and fire.
- Regularly cleanse your soldering tip to lengthen its lifespan. Avoid abrasive substances and rough surfaces as these could harm the metallic surface.
