Product Functionality: This product functions much like printing on a standard MK3 – a model is sliced, G-Code is exported, and loaded onto an SD card to commence the printing process immediately, making it easy and efficient to use. Uniquely, our MMU 2.0 is the sole device capable of supporting up to five materials loaded simultaneously.
The cutting-edge MMU 2.0 sports a direct-drive feed and a motorized selector head featuring an integrated filament sensor, which effectively manages loading and unloading filaments. We have addressed the problem of jamming, often experienced with the original multi-material add-on due to the Bowden system, with the incorporation of a built-in blade in the selector to tackle filament blockage during unloading. Consequently, the new design shows minimal sensitivity to filament quality and virtually eliminates jamming.
We strategically positioned three buttons atop the MMU 2.0 body, two tasked with moving the selector head and one dedicated to loading and unloading filaments. These buttons also serve advanced functions, such as calibrating the length of the PTFE tube.
The MMU 2.0 affords the ability to print in Single Mode, emulating the printing experience on a standard MK3 machine. You can load five of your preferred filaments and choose the most suitable one for your current task. In the near future, we will be rolling out a firmware update that supports printing older MK3 G-codes in the MMU2 Single Mode.
Installing the MMU2 provides an excellent chance to elevate your extruder. It comes with an upgraded cooling system, allows for more manageable printing of flexible materials, and includes a few minor tweaks such as a reconfigured cable management system.
