To give you a detail, solder melting point stands at 183°C while lead-free solder has a melting point of 227°C. The optimal temperature range for welding is between 300°C to 380°C. Keep in mind that once the temperature crosses 380°C, there may be quick oxidation, loss of the iron head and a faster decline of the heater core lifespan.
