Feature: The Due, a microcontroller board based on the SAM3X8E ARM Cortex-M3, operates at 3.3V. Applying 5V to the Due’s inputs may damage the chip as it incompatible with RAMPS1.4. As a solution, we’ve created a new compatible RAMPS variant for due replacement, the RAMPS-FD.
Benefits of the RAMPS-FD over the RAMPS1.4:
- The RAMPS-FD has additional hardware protection through the jumper cap control motor drive IC.
- The RAMPS-FD boasts of more than 2-way PWM as compared to Ramps1.4.
- The RAMPS-FD has larger driving power than Ramps1.4.
- The RAMPS-FD power offers two choices:12V and 24V.
Why choose DUE over Mega?
- The CPU operates at 3.3V.
- High-current IO pins can source 15 mA and sink 9 mA.
- Low-current IO pins can source 3 mA and sink 6 mA.
- Maximum CPU package at 130mA.
- The Due has 1 dedicated SPI port and 4 multipurpose USART/SPI ports.
- The SPI port is routed to the 6 pin header used for ICSP on Mega but not on Due.
- The Due does not have any EEPROM.
- The Due has lower power, faster computing, and bigger flash and Sram than Mega2560.
Please note: an LCD adapter for RAMPS-FD is not included and must be purchased separately.
