Product Overview:
The RUMBA32 is a top-of-the-line control board from Aus3D. This board capitalizes on Marlin 2.0’s 32-bit support, a rapidly developing feature. Due to this ongoing evolution, please be advised that documentation and configuration settings may change ocassionally. Ensure you are comfortable following the instructions in our getting started guideline before purchasing RUMBA32.
Please note, a small defect has been identified in the current set of boards which will affect SPI-mode operation for TMC stepper drivers. For each socket utilized with an SPI-mode stepper driver, a small modification with a soldering iron will be required. However, upon purchase, we can apply this mod if you intend on using the SPI drivers. For those who have already purchased a board, we can supply guidelines for the modification or arrange for a return so the modification can be implemented. Feel free to contact us for further assistance.
The RUMBA32, similar to other printer control boards employs an 8-bit system. Its strength is its robust construction, ensuring durability and longevity. Its main limitation is related to the ATmega2560 microcontroller, as the 16MHz processing speed and finite memory (256K flash, 8K SRAM) restricts the implementable features and operation speed.
Now with the RUMBA32, these limitations can be put in the past! Based on the trusted RUMBA+ hardware design, it has been enhanced with a new processor, the STM32F446. This processor boosts the performance of the board with a 180 MHz clock rate, 512Kb of flash memory, and 128Kb of SRAM. If you are seeking a control board that is prepared to handle advanced firmware features, trust in RUMBA32.
Despite the upgrades, the RUMBA32 will feel at home as it does not require you to modify your existing printer setup. It supports common character and graphics LCDs similar to RUMBA+ and RAMPS. With its standard stepper driver support (A4988, DRV8825), and added SPI driver support, RUMBA32 eases the usability of SPI-based stepper drivers, without the need of additional wiring. Running on Marlin 2.0, the RUMBA32 is your go-to upgrade for increased performance and familiarity.
